Your Guide to Long Hair Care

November 5, 2010 by Clark

Many people think that they simply cannot have long hair because it looks ratty and brittle, but this is actually not the case. You can have long hair and keep it healthy and beautiful, as long as you have the right information and follow the right long hair care steps.

Taking Care of Your Long Hair

Whether you are looking for straight long hair or long curly hair care advice, the most important thing that you can do is take care of your long hair and provide it with the moisture that it needs. All hair gets dry, but when you have long hair it is much easier to get split ends so you need to make sure, when it comes to long hair care, that you moisturize your hair, especially the ends.

Avoid Overstyling

Another very important long hair care tip is to avoid overstyling your hair. If you tend to use blow dryers, curling and flat irons a lot, you should stop this because they are incredibly damaging to your hair.

When it comes to long hair care, one of the best things that you can do is give your hair a break. Let it rest, and try to only style it once or twice a week, then just work with it the rest of the week so that you are not stressing it out to the max and creating less damage as a result.

Go Homemade

If you are interested in long hair care, you should be aware that there are some terrific home recipes you can create which will do wonders for your hair. A moisturizing hair mask will be particularly effective for long hair, and for a simple hair mask all you need is 5 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 eggs.

Mix this together and then apply thoroughly to your hair and wrap your head in plastic wrap or with a shower cap. After about 15 minutes you can rinse it out and you will immediately notice a difference.

If you want to get more shine in your hair, take 1 tbsp of herbs with enough boiling water and let it stand for about a half hour. Then add ΒΌ cup apple cider vinegar and mix well. Shampoo this into your hair and then pour the mixture over your hair repeatedly. The vinegar will help to seal the cuticle of the hair, leaving you with shine and sheen.
