Mixed Reviews For Alice In Wonderland
March 6, 2010 by Clark
Reviews are starting to appear in great numbers for the new Tim Burton movie, Alice In Wonderland. They’re a very mixed bunch, and the general opinion seems to be that this is Tim Burton on autopilot. Let’s do the checklist: Johnny Depp? Check. Helena Bonham carter? Check. Visuals that outweigh the story? Check. Overtly creepy atmosphere?
Check. It’s a Tim Burton movie alright, and it’s also a Disney film, which means that there is an enormous focus on things that can be merchandised to hell. This is all good and well, but the film, from the reviews that are surfacing, appears to be a bit mediocre in some areas, whereas other areas are incredible.

The visual aspect is getting the most press, with everyone falling in love with the way the film looks, but then there are repeated issues with the story, the script and the general direction.
One review even said that it was as if the new Alice In Wonderland movie was made by someone else, pretending to be Tim Burton. has Burton arrived at a point where he is just parodying himself?
This will no doubt be a huge hit all over the world, but after this, it would be nice to see him tackle something on a smaller scale. Next up for Burton is an adaptation of the vampire soap opera Dark Shadows, which does have the potential to be something other than just two hours of CGI.
