Why We Love Marina And The Diamonds

519szKPaWjL. SL500 Why We Love Marina And The DiamondsMarina And The Diamonds are great. This is a fact. Marina seems to be the antithesis to the annoyance of acts like Kesha and her ilk, all of them lost beneath layer upon layer of digital effects and studio polish.

While it’s true that Marina and the Diamonds‘ music has its fair share of production tricks, there’s something much more real about it than the packaged nonsense that is being flung at the world like glittery dung.

Her voice is a delight- completely different to much of the current crop of microphone botherers, and her astute lyrics and keen wit give us a glimpse of the wry mind at work.

For once, we aren’t desperate to chew off our own heads when one of her songs is heard, and we’re also not spending half the song yelling ENOUGH WITH THE AUTOTUNE AND WIBBLY EFFECTS ALREADY.

Marina And The Diamonds has the potential to be massive, and hopefully wipe out some of the more irritating acts in the process. We can but hope.
