RIHANNA: The controversy- none of our business

February 20, 2009 by Clark

Come on people, this is just voyeurism now.

The issue of Rihanna’s injuries after she was allegedly beaten up by Chris Brown has reached boiling point with a photo of her bruised, swollen face surfacing online, much to the joy of the sensationalist media.

Yes, she is a celebrity, but she is not public property, and this morbid fascination with her injuries is just disturbing. She is a person who is going through a massive amount of stress already (the celebrity life, as you can see, is not all glamour), so why not lay off with the interest in her bruises?

Society is tainted by violence enough as it is, and now that the issue of Chris Brown’s alleged violence against her has been a talking point for a while, isn’t it time we let her deal with it herself and not intrude any more than we, as a world of media obsessed sensation junkies, already do?

It is easy to say that she has it made, that with her money and her fame she’ll be fine, but what people are missing is that this should not be a matter for public consumption.

Leave it be. Move along.
