Weekend Movie Roundup: Persian Prince Versus Arabian Princesses

Memorial Day Weekend has arrived. And with it come the sun-speckled escapist, visual getaways that fill up the blockbuster summer movie season. First up is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, based on the long-running video game series of the same name. In the movie adaptation, Jake Gyllenhaal plays the titular prince, a rebel in his own kingdom who must protect an ancient dagger from the in-hot-pursuit forces of evil (including Ben Kingsley). Also camping out in the Eastern deserts are the women of Sex and the City 2, also out today. In the sequel, the four signature best friends are swept off on an all-expenses trip to Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirate. The question is, is there enough room (and box office gold) for all this royalty in Hollywood's imaginary Middle East?
