Roxette to reform
April 16, 2009 by Clark
Swedish pop rock legends Roxette are in talks to make a comeback after five years apart. The duo, known worldwide for songs such as Listen to Your Heart, Joyride and The Look amongst others, called it a day in 2002 after vocalist Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
They got back together in 2004 briefly for the band’s 25th anniversary, but other than that they have concentrated on solo projects.
Now, guitarist/vocalist Per Gessle says that a comeback is on the cards for Roxette. He says that it may not be a full blown tour, but he and marie will certainly be working together under the Roxette name again.
This could be interesting. Love them or loathe them, you must admit that Roxette knew how to write extremely memorable songs. Their albums were huge at the time, and many of their hit singles have becom standards of soft rock compilations, but the fact is their music has stood the test of time and remains a good listen even today. We wish the duo all the best for their future endeavour!
