Scott Stapp and Creed are back… sort of
April 28, 2009 by Clark
Despite the success of Alter Bridge and the well-documented animosity between the band members, Scott Stapp has rejoined his former CREED bandmates to bring back the grunge metal megastars once again.
The diminutive frontman with the distinctive croon said: “I wouldn’t call it a reunion. It’s a renewing and a rebirth. I missed my boys and wanted to create music with them again. We’re all thrilled to have a second chance to make a first impression.”
After Stapp contacted guitarist Mark Tremonti in December, the seeds of the reconciliation were sewn. Within 20 minutes of them meeting again they were jamming on ideas with an acoustic guitar. The old magic was still there.
Whether the band are able to recreate the success of their earlier work is another matter. Alter Bridge and Nickelback have proved there’s still an audience for 90s nostalgia, so who knows?
